Nicki Minaj Released After Arrest in Netherlands for Drug Possession

Rapper Nicki Minaj was released from custody Saturday after being arrested by Dutch authorities on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. The arrest occurred while Minaj was traveling from Amsterdam to Manchester for a concert on her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour.”

Minaj, 41, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, was fined and allowed to continue her journey, according to a police statement posted on social media. The incident led to the postponement of her scheduled performance at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester. Live Nation UK confirmed that tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled concert, expressing disappointment over the inconvenience caused to fans.

The Dutch police have not officially named the person arrested but confirmed that a 41-year-old American woman was detained at Schiphol Airport for possession of soft drugs. Minaj herself addressed the incident through multiple social media posts, detailing her interactions with airport authorities and expressing frustration over the handling of her luggage.

In one video posted on X, Minaj is seen being informed that her luggage needs to be searched, to which she questions the timing and procedure of the search. She shared her belief that there were efforts to sabotage her tour, accusing individuals of attempting to disrupt her success and alleging theft and financial misconduct.
